Oh my, El Pistolero!

April, 15, 2016

Ariba Ariba! – Get to El Pistolero for an authentic Mexican treat!  What a wonderfully quint restaurant situated in the quiet neighbourhood of Constantia Park.
The restaurant was bustling with patrons and the service staff were constantly moving around between tables – service was efficient, friendly and relaxed.
This was my first Mexican-cuisine experience and it most definitely was an experience!  The ingredients and produce was incredibly fresh and flavourful.

Eventhough El Pistolero does not have a liquor licence (yet), the homemade drinks will quench even the biggest thirst (on a balmy post-rain summers evening).

Worth a visit, and a re-visit, and another one!

Recommendation:
To drink: Homemade Coriander Lemonade (don’t be scared of the floating chillis; they really add to the overall flavour and is surprisingly refreshing).

To eat:
DEEP FRIED FISH TACOS
Zamalek battered hake/yellowtail, pickled jalapeños, slaw, tamarind and ancho paste

TACOS AL PASTOR
Slow-cooked pork belly, adobo, fresh pineapple, coriander salsa
